Using Matchgoer

Matchgoer processes information needed to provide your account, saved matches, matchday plans, attendance and recorded ground visits. Authentication and session storage support these features independently of optional analytics.

Optional analytics

If you accept analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, football searches, information engagement and successful matchday actions. Analytics uses cookies such as _ga and _ga_* and a browser identifier. We do not send names, email addresses, account IDs, precise coordinates, raw searches, authentication tokens or individual attendance histories. There is no advertising tracking. After consent, events include a broad audience label: internal for the founder?s two authenticated test accounts, external for other authenticated accounts, or unclassified for anonymous visitors. Only this category is sent, never the account identifier used to determine it. Anonymous activity before sign-in cannot reliably be identified as founder activity. Private browsing can interrupt recognition of returning visitors.

Your choice

Analytics is off until you accept. Rejecting it does not affect Matchgoer functionality. Use My Account or the analytics control at the bottom of any page to change your preference or withdraw consent. Withdrawal stops tracking, removes accessible analytics cookies and reloads the page. Your consent preference is remembered in local storage.

Services that support Matchgoer

Supabase supports account authentication, Vercel hosts the website, and Railway hosts the backend and database. Location searches use Geoapify or the existing OpenStreetMap search service. These services process information needed to provide their respective functions. Google Analytics is used only with your consent. External club, ticketing and directions links take you to services with their own privacy policies.

Retention and processing

Google Analytics event and user data retention is set to two months; aggregate reports can remain longer. Analytics cookies are configured for a 60-day lifetime. Google Signals and Enhanced Measurement are off, advertising personalisation is disabled, and no Google Ads links or User-ID tracking are used. Service providers may process data internationally, outside your country. Google uses IP addresses to derive approximate location and discards them before logging analytics data. Your account and football records support your ongoing use of Matchgoer; this disclosure does not specify a fixed retention period for those records. Contact the operator with questions or requests concerning your personal data.

Operator and privacy contact

Matchgoer is an independently operated hobby project run by Ray Forrester, not an incorporated company. For privacy questions, consent queries, personal-data or account-deletion requests, email privacy@matchgoer.com. These are requests for review, not instant export or deletion.
